Blyth’s remarkable comeback at Buxton on Saturday was thoroughly deserved according to manager Tom Wade.
Two goals down at the interval the Spartans rallied superbly to go on to win 3-2.
Wade commented: “It was a sloppy first half. We had a few chances as did they but we should have been two up before they scored. The first goal Buxton scored was down to poor defensive work and the second was yards offside.
“After half time we totally dominated them. Wadey [Mathew Wade] and Steven Turnbull were outstanding against an exceptionally talented midfield opposition. They allowed us to go forward much better than we had been able too. Our shape improved and that allowed Dan Maguire to find his game.
“We knew, at the break, that if we could score next we could push on and in fact we squeezed them back into their own half and steamrollered them in the end.
“You have to bear in mind as well that we were without Stephen Turnbull who is a great leader.
“But we were really strong. We won all our headers, all the second balls and our tackles. In addition Buxton are a good side it should be said. Very strong physically. But we are just too fit for most teams and this paid dividends at the weekend on what was a heavy pitch.”
