Although the game was goalless after 90minutes of football, Spartans did have a number of opportunities to break the deadlock; hitting the wood work twice. The visitors, also had a number of chances, but thanks to Blyth Keeper Alex Mitchell who pulled off a number of high quality saves.

Blyth Spartans lost at Croft Park for the 6th consecutive game as they are dragged ever closer to the only relegation spot in the League this season (bottom). Once again the Spartans found themselves three nil down to the visitors early in the game. McNall pulled one back before half time, before Hereford extended the gap to three in the second half. The visitors led 2-0 at half time before making it three nil early in the second half. Spartans Shaun Reid pulled back a consolation goal; but it was too little too late to effect the outcome of the match.

The visitors led at the break 1-0 in a evenly balanced first half. The second half saw a dominant Spartans in full control as they looked for the equaliser, only to be undone by a 87th minute penalty, very much against the run of play.

Blyth Spartans started 2022 the way they ended 2021 with a battling win over local rivals (this time Gateshead), in front of a crowd of 2,027 at Croft Park.
