Blyth Spartans travelled to Stalybridge Celtic tonight for a Blue Square North clash.
The Spartans had the better of the first half in treacherous conditions and went in at half time 0-0. Disaster was to strike when returning ‘keeper Mark Bell was injured in the 56 minute and with no substitute ‘keeper named on the bench Robert Dale was forced to don the gloves and go in goal.
Sadly the Spartans rearguard were unable to hold out when an own goal (scored by Andrew Leeson) and a Lee Ellington strike saw the Celts take a 2-0 win
More details will follow later.
