Blyth Spartans have been handed a boost ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup Third Round tie with SkyBet Championship club Birmingham City as they were named Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division Team of the Month for December.
Tom Wade’s side won four of their five fixtures in all competitions during the month including the 2-1 FA Cup Second Round win at Hartlepool United and the remarkable 7-1 league win at Grantham Town and the Spartans manager paid tribute to his players for their efforts in what he called “a very tough month”.
“It’s a great reward for the effort and commitment of the players over a very tough month. We have had some tricky fixtures in both the league and the FA Cup and we have done well. We are proud to win the award and we are proud to represent the Evo-Stik League in the FA Cup”
The club will be presented with a 4.5 litre bottle of Bells Whiskey and a framed certificate by League Operations Manager Alan Allcock and Vice President Phil Bradley prior to Saturday’s cup clash with the Blues.
