The club can announce the signing of goalkeeper Mark Cook
The 24-year-old started his career at Newcastle United, before moving to Hartlepool United. Upon his release from Victoria Park he trialled briefly with the Spartans (see photo below) but took up the option of a short term deal at Gateshead on a short term deal. He then spent the remainder of that season and the following season at Harrogate Town.
Most recently he has been playing for Lima based giants Universitario de Deportes – Peru’s largest club. Universitario play their home games in an 80,000 capacity stadium and were, until recently, managed by former Newcastle United and Peruvian legend Nolberto Solano (both players had been at Hartlepool United together).
Since his return to the UK ‘Cooky’ has been training with the Spartans with a view to signing and the deal has been agreed following the granting of International Clearance.
