With his second half strike at Witton Albion, Blyth Spartans attacking midfielder Craig Lynch got himself on the scoresheet for the first time since his move from Spennymoor Town.
After coming on as a second half substitute Lynch had only been on the pitch for five minutes when he collected a pass from Dan Maguire and expertly rolled the ball into the far corner and he revealed he was “very happy” to be off the mark for the club.
“I have waited a few weeks for my chance, although I played at Ramsbottom United, I did want another chance and it has come today. I am delighted to have taken my chance and to get on the scoresheet is great for me, I am very happy with that”
Now Lynch and his team mates head into Tuesday night’s crucial fixture at already relegated Trafford knowing they need a win to take their play-off fight into the final day of the season. Lynch, who described his 2014/15 season as “tormented”, wants to end it on a happy note by helping Spartans into the semi finals of the play-offs.
“I haven’t played much this season and it has been a tormented season for me. All I want to do is play football, to pull on that shirt on a Saturday and help this club into the play-offs. We won’t give up, we will keep going and we are playing well. We just have to keep pressuring the teams above us and see what happens”
