Blyth Spartans AFC is delighted to announce Corey McKeown has signed a new contract, keeping him at the club for the 2021/22 season.
The 19-year-old forward has become a bit of a cult hero at Croft Park after his stunning equaliser in the 2-2 draw with local rivals Gateshead on Boxing Day.
McKeown joined Blyth in 2019 and has made 14 appearances since as he continues his development under Michael Nelson.
Having played nine times last season, the former Morpeth Town Junior is eyeing more minutes on the pitch.
McKeown said: “I’m buzzing. With the amount of lads released, to be offered a new deal proves I’ve impressed the manager.
“I didn’t get as much gametime as I wanted to last season. With a bit more experience, I feel I can push on.”
Michael Nelson, manager of Blyth Spartans, said: “Corey is a player that has plenty of positive attributes.
“We feel he is someone that can develop over time, so I’m looking forward to working with him again this season.”
