Blyth Spartans have completed the signing of Dillon Morse after the young defender impressed manager Tom Wade in his time on trial with the Croft Park club.

Morse, who had spells with both Carlisle United and Gateshead earlier in his career, has featured in Spartans last three pre-season friendlies against Ashington, Newcastle Benfield and the Edinburgh Spartans.

Spartans assistant manager Lee Picton is delighted to have the young defender on board.

He said “Dillon is a young player with aspirations of playing at the highest levels he can.

He has impressed us with not only his ability but also his attitude and confidence. He has settled into the dressing room straightaway and that is what we like to see”

And Picton also hopes that he can help Morse progress as a player.

“Obviously Dillon plays in the same position I did in my playing career so I’m hoping to help him develop. I’m excited by the challenge of helping him reach his potential”
