Hutchinson “delighted” to carry on Spartans cup tradition

Young defender Ryan Hutchinson reflected on the epic FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round win at Leek Town and immediately turned his attention back in history. The win over the Staffordshire outfit sees Spartans reach the First Round proper for the thirty second time and Hutchinson was happy to have carried on the “pedigree” the club has with the famous old competition.

“This club is famous for our pedigree in the FA Cup and it’s great to carry it on. I am delighted to see us in that First Round draw and I can’t wait to see who we get. It’s a great achievement”

Half time saw Hutchinson and his team mates told in no uncertain terms that an improvement was needed after a poor display in the first half. The former Seaton Deleval man pointed to the early goal from Neal Hooks just a minute into the second half as a key factor in his side getting the win.

“We all knew we weren’t good enough and needed to improve greatly. We got the goal early on and we needed that. It gave us the confidence to push on and we deserved the win”

Hutchinson also paid tribute to the travelling Green Army, who he admitted kept the Spartans players going at times and was “very happy” that they were rewarded with a place in the First Round proper.

“They were brilliant and they stuck behind us. They keep us going at times and we do it for them. We know what it means to them and we are very happy to have given them a good day”
