Spartans midfielder Neal Hooks cut a frustrated figure after his side dropped two points at home to Whitby Town. A brace from Town striker Steven Snaith meant Spartans had to rely on a double strike of their own by Robbie Dale to take a point. However Hooks felt his side should have taken all three points and was left annoyed by a foul on Nathan Buddle in the build up to the visitors’ second goal.
“We are very disappointed at the result. We wanted the three points today and they were fortunate on the second goal before it was a clear push on Nathan Buddle but even then we should have taken the points so it’s very disappointing”
Spartans were left frustrated by the form of visitors’ keeper Shane Bland as he made several stops during the first half. There were frustrations that Spartans were overplaying at times and Hooks felt there were several occasions when he felt his side “made the wrong decision”.
“We made the wrong decision on a number of occasions and that has cost us. We should have played through the midfield and looked to switch play quicker because I think we could have taken advantage and turned them around quicker”
Things don’t get easier for Hooks and his team mates as they face a long trip to Halesowen Town on Saturday but the midfielder admitted there’s only one thing on their mind.
“It is a long journey and it will be tough because of that but we go down there with the aim of coming back with three points and I think we can do that”
