Home comforts for Spartans in cup draws

After a seemingly never ending run of away cup fixtures Spartans have now received three home draws in a row in three different competitions.

Obviously you will be aware of Sunday’s FA Cup tie at Croft Park with Conference side Altrincham, however Tom Wade’s side have been given two home ties in the FA Trophy and the Northumberland Senior Cup.

Saturday’s Trophy win at Farsley AFC has seen Spartans rewarded with a home fixture against one of two of their Evo-Stik NPL rivals. Either Halesowen Town or Matlock Town will travel to Blyth on Saturday 15th November.

The two sides face a replay at Matlock on Tuesday night after the initial fixture ended in a 1-1 draw.

The draw for the Northumberland Senior Cup Quarter Final was made on Saturday and Northern League side Ashington come to Croft Park in a tie that must be played before 22nd November.

That means a rerun of last season’s semi final that saw Spartans triumph 3-2 in a replay after the two sides drew the initial fixture 2-2 at Woodhorn Lane.
