Blyth Spartans have now received international clearance to complete the signing of former striker Ash Davis. The former Whitby Town and Whitley Bay frontman has returned from a spell in America and will be available to play in what will be the third Spartans spell of his career, when Ilkeston come to Croft Park on Tuesday.

The forward would have been available to play in Saturday’s home fixture with Stamford but is taking part in a cage fighting match, so will have to wait to make another Croft Park bow.

Davis originally signed for Spartans in 2012, when his former Whitby Town manager Tommy Cassidy brought him to Spartans. He scored two goals in his final game of his first spell at the club as he inspired Spartans to a 3-1 win over Matlock Town.

Soon after he departed for EBAC Northern League club Whitley Bay but returned for a second spell at Croft Park in September 2013. However he departed the club at the end of the 2013/14 season to study in America.

Manager Tom Wade was delighted to welcome the powerful striker back to the club saying “We know what Ash can offer us and we know we have a lot of fixtures coming up. He is a good option up front and it’s great to have him back at the club”

Welcome back to the club Ash….again!
