Spartans striker Robbie Dale reflected on the 3-1 win over Sunderland RCA tonight and insisted that the signs of improvement are there as they progress through pre-season. The 99 goal striker commented “I think we played better against Gateshead than tonight and there was a lot of graft from the lads on Saturday against a full time side. The lads are coming back in and with a win tonight we are getting better and getting ready for a good test on Saturday”.
Dale has been impressed with the impact fellow striker Craig Farrell has had since joining Spartans in June and the former York City front man blasted home his third goal in three appearances, with Dale playing a helping hand with a vicious inswinging cross from the left. “We could have had a few more goals tonight but Craig’s done well up front and he’s got three in three now. It seems getting the ball to him could be the best tactic!” said Dale.
Whilst still waiting for his first goal since returning from Whitley Bay on a permanant basis in the summer, Dale has one big target on his mind as he looks to crack three figures for his beloved Spartans. Stuck on 99 goals since his loan spell back at Croft Park last season he commented “I love being here, I love the club and it’s great being back but I want that hundredth goal”.
