Steve Cuggy has today moved to secure the signature of a player he knows all about with the signing of Whitley Bay centre half Darren Timmons.
The former Ashington and Hartlepool United ‘tough tackling’ defender, who can also play sweeper and is equally adept at full back, has been involved in the last two of Whitley Bay’s three consecutive FA Vase wins.
Manager Cuggy commented “Darren is extremely reliable and a smashing lad to have around the place, he is also a very comfortable footballer, who could have been playing at a higher level than the Northern League for a lot of years.
“The make up of the squad is also quite young, so it is always good to bring in someone with that little bit of experience, which Darren certainly has.”
