Cory Davison – Club Mascot

It has been a busy few weeks for Cory Davison, the mascot in the recent FA Cup game against Bedlington Terriers. Cory is a young SpartansFan from Blyth, who is recovering from treatment for a brain tumour and is a regular attendee of Spartans matches with his Dad and Brothers.

One of the club’s match photographers (Steven White of ImagesbySW) has produced a montage of photographs as a reminder of his day at the Spartans that was signed by the Spartans first team. The framed picture was then presented to Cory by Assistant Manager Gavin Fell and Cory’s favourite player Graeme Armstrong prior to the recent Worcester City game. He was also presented with a Spartans hat and scarf by Dougie Ramsey.

On Sunday he was mascot in the ‘Entertainers Re-United’ match at Kingston Park involving former players of both Newcastle United and Liverpool, where he was led onto the pitch by Alan Shearer and received the striker’s ‘No. 9’ shirt at the end of the game.

To complete the gifts to Cory, Jon Shaw of Gateshead, also kindly handed over a pair of signed match worn boots.

To keep up to speed with news of Cory’s recovery, a page has been set up on Facebook, this can be accessed by clicking here.

The club would like to thank everyone involved, in particular Steven White, for bringing a smile to the face of the brave youngster.
