Club Statement – F.A. Trophy Quarter Final

The club has today received a request from The F.A. for a full report of the incidents at our match against Gateshead on Saturday 26th February, this involved coins and smoke bombs being thrown or set off during the game.

At the first occurrence of these incidents warnings were given over the P.A. system and stewards instructed to identify the culprits, announcements were repeat requesting the individuals to desist from their actions.

The club is currently in the process of reviewing all available evidence of the incidents on the day, identification of individuals and the actions required to prevent a similar occurrence in the future. The response and the actions implemented by the club will also be fully reviewed by the F.A. in their assessment as to whether any disciplinary action should be taken against the Club.

The Club regards this sad situation extremely seriously, especially where the actions of individuals have compromised the safety of players, officials and the true supporters of Blyth Spartans. They have also degraded the good name of the Club as well as demoralising the volunteers and club officials who give up their time to help make Blyth Spartans a success.

Needless to say any repeat of the said incidents (or similar) at future games, the offenders will be severely dealt with by the Club.
