Blyth Spartans and Radio Northumberland have agreed a deal for the local community station to broadcast all of the club’s home fixtures during the 2013/14 season. This will include fixtures in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League and all four cup competitions Spartans take part in. Additionally the station has also committed to covering a minimum of five away fixtures throughout the season.

The volunteer ran station have covered several Spartans fixtures this season and have received excellent feedback from the Green Army and opposition supporters. Radio Northumberland’s Head of Sport Jonny Hall said “This latest announcement is part of Radio Northumberland’s on-going commitment to providing high quality, non-league football programming in this area. Everyone at the club has been very welcoming and I have personally enjoyed my first season at Croft Park working with Mark, Phil and the rest of the Spartans media team. The response to our coverage, from both the Green Army and opposition supporters, has been incredible and we look forward to providing live and uninterrupted coverage of all home games next season at one of the most famous non-league clubs in the country.”

Blyth Spartans Head of Media Phil Castiaux commented “Having Radio Northumberland pledging to extend their coverage of our games next season is great news. Anyone who has listened to their broadcasts this year will agree that the station do themselves proud in terms of their polished commentary. The move to increase broadcasts can be seen as another welcome improvement in Blyth Spartans’ media output.”

More news regarding the away fixtures the station will be covering will be revealed in due course.
