Spartans 3rd game in 6 days saw them run out of steam against playoff hopefuls Droylsden at Croft Park.
Droylsden to be fair dominated from start to finish. After 20 minutes Marc Bell was called into action to turn away Sean Newton’s free kick.
The visitors took the lead on 30 minutes. Liam Brownhill crossing into the penalty area from the right touchline, found the head of Tony Gray to head home.
The only efforts by the home side came from a couple of long range shots by Marc Walton before the interval.
After the break the visitors were still on the attack. Gray again testing Bell.
The closest Blyth came to grabbing an equaliser came from a Gareth Williams free kick headed over by Richard pell.
With 8 minutes remaining Droylsden got their second. Jake Speight winning the ball just outside the penalty area before slotting the ball through to Gray to run on and shoot past Bell.
