Wearmouth pens new Spartans contract

Wearmouth
Blyth Spartans winger Arran Wearmouth has handed the club a boost ahead of their return to pre-season training by penning a new contract at the club. The former Bishop Auckland man had a disrupted debut season at the club but became a popular player amongst the Green Army scoring three goals and creating seven for his team mates.

Watched by Assistant Manager Colin Myers and Chairman Tony Platten the young winger signed a new deal and admitted that he had lost time to make up during the new campaign.

“I can’t wait for the start of pre-season. I missed pre-season last year for a couple of reasons and that made it tougher to really show what I can do so I’m determined to work even harder this year and hit the ground running”

Wearmouth joined the club late last pre-season and made an immediate impact scoring on his full home debut in a pulsating 3-3 draw with Worksop Town. His form earned him a call up to the England ‘C’ Representative Squad for the game with a Northern League XI to celebrate the league’s 125th anniversary, however he insisted that neither the club nor himself could rest on their laurels once the new campaign gets underway.

“Obviously for the team I want us to push on from what we achieved last year, we need to try and get into those play offs because we came close last year. Personally I want to have an injury free season and to progress at the club because I love being here”
