Tom talks – after the Whitby game

Manager Tom Wade was understandably delighted with his team’s 3-2 victory over Whitby Town on Tuesday.

“It was a great football match played out by two attacking teams,” he said. “In the first 20 minutes we were outstanding, like the same period at Barwell on Saturday. We could have had the game over and done with. Again we had no problem creating chances but are not taking them. But as I have said previously that will change.

“I wasn’t sure if the penalty awarded against us was valid and the mistake by Adam [McHugh] in our goal for Whitby’s second goal was unfortunate but the conditions were really tricky.

“We went on to have rip-roaring last half an hour when we were awesome. Robbie [Dale] showed great leadership in driving us on.”

Wade is now looking forward to tomorrow’s game against Buxton at Croft Park.

“It will be a difficult game,” he said. “Buxton will be a more physical proposition than we’ve faced up to now. They are a very good, fit and strong side but we’re looking forward to it.”
