The draw was the right result, said Blyth manager Tom Wade after his team drew 1-1 with Nantwich at Croft Park on Saturday.
“Either side could have sneaked the win at the end,” he said. “In the first half we were probably the better side. We didn’t play fantastically well but we were pretty comfortable. After half time we looked a bit ‘leggy’ in midfield and lost our shape a touch. Nantwich were catching us on the break and you could see how they’ve scored so many goals recently. Reidy [Sean Reid] could have won it for us at the death and they had a great chance too. If they’d taken it and won no-one could have complained really. It was a tough game against a good side. Having said that we got a point from the side second in the League.
“I just think there is a little bit of a fear factor in our lads when playing at home. The supporters have been fantastic and maybe some hesitancy creeps in to our play with the players not wanting to let the fans down. We need to overcome that and be able to take the shackles off and go for it sometimes.”
Looking forward to the Bank Holiday fixture with Darlington Wade said, “They had a good win on Saturday. They are a strong outfit and there’ll be a big crowd so it’ll be difficult but we will give it a good go. We have a big squad so I‘ll maybe make some changes to our side for the game.”
