Spartans manager Tom Wade spoke after his team’s 1-0 over Buxton on Saturday.
“There were two really good sides out there today. They will be a force to be reckoned with this season, I’m sure. But we matched them and try to play football when we could, “he said.
“Both teams made a slow start and we certainly took 15 minutes to get going, but Buxton are an exceptionally tough team to play against. Their centre forward was brilliant. He never stopped working. Plus their midfield was strong.
“We were creating chances before Nipa [Daniel Maguire] popped up late on to win us the game. That and keeping a clean sheet were plus points for us. In addition the Ryan Hutchinson and Dillon Morse pairing at centre back looked good.”
