TEAM NEWS

There are no new injury concerns following Saturday’s game, but captain Nathan Buddle will continue to be assessed following a clash of heads against Alfreton, the week before.

OPPOSITION

Since stepping in as permanent manager at the end of October, Craig Lynch is remarkably yet to taste defeat for Morpeth. The Highwaymen are currently on an 18 game unbeaten run, dating back to their FA Cup replay defeat to York City on the 19th October.

Their upturn in form has seen them make a push towards the play-offs, and they continued this on Saturday as they came from behind to win away against Basford United. A second-half brace from Callum Norris secured a 2-1 win for the visitors.

WHAT WE’RE SAYING

Speaking after the Leamington match, Mitchell spoke of how he’d approach the Senior Cup, in what is a hectic February schedule. “We’re taking it one game at a time, I know it’s a cliché but it’s true.

We want to win every game. It’s the only cup we’re left in this season, and playing a final at St James’ Park is a great occasion, so without a doubt we want to win it. Morpeth are on a great run of form at the minute, so it’ll be tough but we’ll definitely be going into that game trying to win it.”

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

Lynch spoke with Morpeth’s media team following his side’s win over Basford United. “I’ve said from the start; you win, you tick it off, and you go again. You can’t get too carried away with the run we’re on. We had six or seven out today and to win shows the quality we have at the club, and the win keeps us ticking over.”

LAST TIME WE MET

The last competitive fixture between the sides was in the Senior Cup in January 2018, and it was one to forget for Blyth Spartans, as Morpeth Town ran riot in an 8-2 win at Croft Park. Dylan McGlade and Euan Anderson grabbed the consolation goals for Spartans on that day.
