John ‘Eddie’ Alder was a small, wiry & permanently bald stalwart of Blyth’s midfield for 12 years from 1966 to 1978. Eddie Alder was originally a left winger when signed by Jimmy Turney from Bedlington Mechanics. He was part of the squad which gradually got a foothold in a strong Northern League.
