TEAM NEWS
Blyth are back at home after a spell of away fixtures, which didn’t end up how the club, nor supporters wished. But despite a small drop of form, we still sat top of the league, until midweek fixtures saw us overtaken by Nantwich and Darlington. To win the game in hand on the two clubs would see Blyth two points clear. But Saturday’s fixture list gives Spartans the chance to keep the pressure on the high scorers Dabbers and highly thought of Darlington 1883. Our opponents Mickleover Sports were one of the victims from Spartans’ excellent FA Cup run last season, with a late Jarrett Rivers winner in Derbyshire setting up a clash with Leek Town in the 4th Qualifying round. This is Sports’ first trip to Croft Park.

The in-form Mickleover are currently 14th in the league, with a game in hand on most teams surrounding them. Winning that could see them move to 6th so this outfit are not a team Blyth will coast past to three points. Impressive home wins to Skelmersdale United and Buxton show they can get results against the bigger sides in the league so a top performance is required by all 11 for Blyth at the weekend. Spartans’ captain Robbie Dale currently has seven league goals this season, something which he will be hoping to add to in the push for Spartans’ fourth home league win from five games.
