TEAM NEWS
For the third consecutive Tuesday night, Spartans will take place in a cup competition, tonight in the form of local rivals Ashington in the Quarter Final of the Northumberland Senior Cup. With Blyth reaching the final last season, by knocking out Ashington in the semi final after a replay at Croft Park, it’s a competition which grabs the hearts of the local people with connections a’plenty.

Ex Spartans goalkeeper Conor Grant who has made himself number 1 at Ashington will be greeted warmly on his first return after leaving a few months ago in search for 1st team football. Former striker Glen Taylor is ruled of the match with suspension. Blyth will be hoping that they can rely on the entire squad as tiredness will be creeping into the starting 11. Players are likely to be rested, with other team members getting themselves a chance to shine.

The rules for the competition tonight is to play 90 minutes, if the scores are level, the two sides will complete an additional 30 minutes of extra time. If the scores are still equal, the tie goes to a replay.
