After Tuesday’s Northumberland Senior Cup exit at the hands of Whitley Bay, Spartans are back in Evo-Stik Northern Premier League action as they welcome Nantwich Town to Croft Park. Spartans are looking to make it seven games unbeaten on their home patch, a run that has seen them keep three clean sheets in a row.
Paddy Atkinson spoke of adding new faces to his squad this week and secured one new signing with Newcastle United winger Marcus Maddison joining from the Magpies on loan for an initial month. Neal Hooks will be missing with an ankle injury after being on the end of a poor challenge during the midweek cup tie at Whitley Bay. Sam Hodgson is also unavailable with the rib injury that has kept him out of Spartans last three fixtures.
Nantwich Town travel to Croft Park sitting one place and two points ahead of Spartans although Paddy Atkinson’s side have three games in hand on The Dabbers. They will be without centre back Mat Bailey through injury and midfielder Chris Flynn through work commitments. They boast an impressive record on their travels winning six of their nine away fixtures in the league including an impressive win at FC United of Manchester who travel to Croft Park next Saturday.
