TEAM NEWS
Spartans will not have played a competitive game for 11 days when they face Grantham Town on Saturday, which could benefit the team a chance for fitness and knocks to be treated and repaired. Last season’s trip to the Gingerbreads was a more than forgettable affair, with the home side coming out 4-2 winners at the South esteven Sports Stadium. They have continued this season with a strong home record so Spartans will require to be on top form, which we currently are.
Dan Maguire missed the last game against Trafford a week past Tuesday after picking up a slight knock in the warm up. He should return. Tom Wade will have the majority of his squad to pick from for the tie, which with victory could see Blyth move up to 16th in the Evo- Stik Premier Division. The opening game of the season was the reverse fixture at Croft Park, the result ended with a 2-1 win for Spartans, goals from Dan Maguire and Paul Robinson.
