TEAM NEWS
With the eagerly anticipated showdown in the cup only a few days away, Spartans fans will be preparing themselves for the club’s biggest game in the last couple seasons with the visit of Conference side Altrincham for the FA Cup 1st Round tie. With BBC coverage, the tie has been moved to the Sunday 2:00pm slot but that won’t put off either side as the prize for the 2nd Round awaits for either side.

Blyth’s last game was played at Farsley in the FA Trophy on Saturday and came out 2-0 winners. Captain Robbie Dale and central midfielder Stephen Turnbull both missed out with knocks but are expected to be back in the team for Sunday’s tie. Nathan Buddle continued at the heart of defence alongside Danny Parker and added another clean sheet to their list, also with another solid Peter Jefferies performance. With seven goals, last minute penalties and nerves all round the camp in the previous round at Leek Town, Blyth will be looking to echo that spirited victory at home in front of a large Croft Park crowd in what is likely to be a ‘proper’ FA Cup tie.
