From Halloween Horror to Christmas Cracker. The last time Blyth Spartans and Ilkeston met, was at the end of October, when the visitors tore the Spartans apart to win 4.1. However 6 weeks later the boot was on the other foot as a determined Blyth team were adamant that there would be no repeat of the performance that led to that nightmare.
Blyth were a different team, as they played a composed passing game, that the visitors struggled at times to cope with. First half goals from Stephen Turnbull and Michael Tait secured a place in the next round draw for the Spartans.
