TEAM NEWS
Spartans are currently sitting in 3rd position on the leader board after the first fixture and will be hoping be staying in a similar position after the first away fixture of the season, a trip to play off finalists Ashton United. Last season’s trip to Manchester saw a late Ashton equaliser stop Spartans making a league double. The game ended 3-3.

In that game, Aaron Wearmouth scored a 86th minute goal, to put Blyth ahead and after Saturday’s performance against Grantham, he’ll be hoping to repeat his recent form into the following game and contribute to Spartans’ strike force. Dan Maguire will be hoping to continue his goal scoring ways, after already getting off the mark on Saturday with what could be a contender for goal of the season.

Centre back Danny Parker will be back from his suspension and will hope to fit in alongside Nathan Buddle in the defence. Blyth are still awaiting the International Clearance for Samuel Perez but he could feature in the close future.

IN THE AWAY DUG OUT
Paul Phillips & Steve Halford – The player/managers managed to lead Ashton to the play off finals last season but to fall against AFC Fylde at the last hurdle.

DANGER MAN
Martin Pilkington – Ashton’s top goalscorer last campaign, including 1 in last years 3-3 tie at the Hurst Cross Stadium.
