After the heartening win over Stafford Rangers last Saturday, Paddy Atkinson’s Spartans side travel to Grantham Town tomorrow looking to collect their fourth away win of the season. After wins at Whitby Town, Stocksbridge Park Steels and Matlock Town, Spartans will hope to get all three points and that could take them up to into ninth position in the league if results go their way.
Atkinson will be able to name recent additions Craig Pickering and Jack Stanger in his squad after they both agreed terms this week. Midfielder Stanger moved to Croft Park from Northern League side Consett and twenty four year old keeper Pickering signed from Bedlington Terriers. Striker Ryan McGorrigan(above) will be hoping to add to his goal tally after scoring twice in his three appearances since signing from Gateshead.
Despite a poor recent run of form Grantham Town picked up a very impressive 2-0 at Witton Albion last Saturday, a place where Spartans have lost twice this season. They currently sit in sixteenth position in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League, four points behind Spartans. Their home form has seen them win one of their nine fixtures at the South Kesteven Sports Stadium, that win coming courtesy of a 3-0 victory over Worksop Town in the last week of August.
