Blyth Spartans face their final test in pre-season against Hebburn Town before our trip to Ashton United on the opening day of the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

The Spartans lost 2-0 to Consett AFC last Saturday through second-half goals from Calvin Smith and Will Shaw.

Start at Croft Park, Blyth, NE24 3JE and get on A189 from Plessey Rd, B1523 and A1061 – 3.6 miles, 8 minutes

Drive from A19 to Jarrow. Take the exit towards A185 from A19 – 9.8 miles, 12 minutes

Follow A185 to South Dr in Hebburn – 2.2 miles, 7 minutes and arrive at Hebburn Sports Ground, Hebburn, NE31 1UN

TEAM NEWS

New signings Joseph Abrahart and Max Storey are likely to play a part on Saturday afternoon.

OPPOSITION

Hebburn Town finished first in the Northern Premier League Division One East last season and were promoted to the Northern Premier League Premier Division for the upcoming 2024/25 campaign where they will take on the Spartans in league action as well.

In pre-season, they have suffered a 2-1 to Sunderland AFC XI, faced a goalless draw with Heaton Stannington, defeated Bishop Auckland 2-0 and lost 5-1 and 3-1 to Garforth Town and Darlington. They have also suffered heavy defeats against Gateshead and Dumbarton, losing 7-1 to the Heed and 6-1 to Dumbarton in their first pre-season test.

LAST TIME WE MET

The two sides last met in July 2021 in a pre-season friendly as the Hornets won 2-1 with goals in each half from Carl Taylor, Robbie Dale scored for the Spartans just after the second half had begun.
