TEAM NEWS

Spartans have no new injury worries following our game at Prescot Cables.

WHAT WE’RE SAYING

After a late goal sealed defeat for Blyth, David Stockdale said: “I said in there that I will take responsibility. I’m the head man, I’m asking them to play football, sometimes it comes off sometimes it doesn’t.

“You see when we did get the ball down and play football we carved them open numerous times, but we’ve got to understand that we were naive.

“I’m trying to bring a defender on to put Greg [Halford] up-front to give us the option to go a bit longer and just see out the game, naivety and just give them a chance like that sometimes it gets taken.”

OPPOSITION

The Reds currently sit 12th in the league standings having won two and drawn three of their seven games so far this season.

Last time out they drew 1-1 with Warrington Rylands at home as Steven Singlehurst opened the scoring after 47 minutes for the Reds before Ntumba Massanka scored 15 minutes later for the visitors.

Ex-Spartan Alex Mitchell is set to return to Croft Park for the first time since his departure and is set to feature for the Reds having played in every game this season so far.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

Following their draw with Warrington Rylands, Mark Fell said: “I’m a bit disappointed, I don’t think we played well I’ll be honest.

“We spoke to the lads about a few things this week, we were working on moving the ball quickly and trying to play through areas of the pitch and I thought we saw none of it today.”

LAST TIME WE MET

The sides last met in January 2017 during Blyth’s title-winning NPL campaign, when the Spartans won 3-2 at Croft Park thanks to a Dan Maguire hat trick.

The Spartans managed to do the double of the Reds that season, emerging victorious 2-0 earlier in the campaign at Borough Park during the August Bank Holiday weekend.
