TEAM NEWS

Blyth Spartans travel to Southport on Saturday looking to get back to winning ways away from home, after suffering defeats in their last two away games.

Last weekend, the Spartans ran out 1-0 winners over Leamington in what was a thoroughly professional display. The goal came in the first half as Junior English was unlucky to slice Robbie Dale’s cross into his own net.

Southport travelled to Brackley Town and were on the wrong end of a 4-0 defeat. The Sandgrounders were partly to blame for their downfall as they failed to capitalise on the good chances they created. Gareth Dean, Mark Halstead grabbed goals in the first half before Aaron Williams grabbed a brace in the second.

Both sides will be battling for the points but for very different reasons with the hosts looking to put more ground between the relegation places and the Spartans to close the gap on the top four.
