TEAM NEWS

Isiah Cornet will be assessed ahead of Saturday after coming off against Hebburn Town in the 24th minute on Tuesday evening. Lucas Reed is still a doubt following an injury he sustained in pre-season.

WHAT WE’RE SAYING

Following our 1-0 defeat at home, Nobby Solano said: “We’re disappointed. I think the team did well for a large part of the match.

“We played very well, played some good football, but that doesn’t matter as the more important thing to do is to win the game.

“I think we created a lot of good chances, the team responded very well, but we are all disappointed.”

OPPOSITION

The Dolly Blues finished ninth in the Northern Premier League Premier Division last season under their manager Chris Willcock, who was appointed on January 12, 2024.

Currently, they have started the season strong with a 3-2 over Basford United on the opening day and salvaged a draw in the 95th minute through Nic Evangelinos against Workington in a 1-1 draw, which has left them sixth in the league standings.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

After late heroics to rescue a point, Chris Willcock said: “It’s a nice way to get something out of the game [Evangelinos’ 95th minute goal].

“I thought we started the game really well, we passed the ball with purpose and at times there were a bit too many square passes for me, I thought we were playing infront of them.

“For large periods in the first half we didn’t create too much between the lines and we’ve got to give them credit with the way we defended.”

LAST TIME WE MET

The sides last met on December 15, 2018, during an FA Trophy Round One tie at Giant Axe where Spartans enjoyed a 3-0 victory away from home. Michael Liddle, Dan Maguire and Jamie Holmes would all score on the day to send Spartans to the Second Round, where we would play Boreham Wood at home.
