The club is delighted to announce that right-back Andy Cartwright has signed a new one year deal.
The 21-year-old Gosforth-based defender is already looking forward to next season.
”It’s great to re-sign for the Spartans,” he said. “I can’t wait to kick on from what we did last year and hopefully go one better after the disappointing finish to the season.”
Cartwright, a Sports Management student, is looking to improve on his own performances too.
“I think I was quite inconsistent last year. I can do better and turn in good performances on a more regular basis. There’s definitely more to come from me and I’m looking to cement a regular place in the team. When it comes to my strengths I always look to be involved; I hate being a passenger. I like to think I’m comfortable on the ball, have a lot of energy and I love cutting inside.
“I believe I’ve benefitted technically from some good coaches. Robbie Stockdale was my coach at Sunderland and he’d been a right back so that was really useful.”
Asked about his thoughts on Blyth’s chances of success next season Cartwright commented: “I think we can do well, even though we’ve lost a couple of the lads. We will definitely be challenging up at the top of the table.”
