Blyth Spartans have agreed to sign Carlisle United defender David Atkinson on a one-month loan deal.
The 23-year-old is well known to manager Alun Armstrong – after he started his career at Middlesbrough academy. While he was unable to go onto make a first-team appearance for Boro during his time on Teesside, the youngster did enjoy loan spells at both Hartlepool United and then at Brunton Park – as he secured a switch to the League Two side in March 2015, before going on to make 37 appearance for the Cumbrian side so far.
Able to play across the back four, the England youth international will be available for selection for Saturday’s important Evo-Stik Premier League clash against fellow high-flyers Buxton.
