Captain of the famous Spartans 1977/78 FA Cup team, John Waterson, was present at the opening of the new Wetherspoons pub in Blyth town centre at its official launch before Christmas.
“It was an honour to be asked,” he said. “I never did anything like this back in 1978 so it was a nice surprise to be remembered and asked to be part of the opening ceremony!”
