After being drafted in to assist Caretaker Manager Paddy Atkinson, Spartans new assistant manager Tom Wade was happy to be back in the dugout despite the 0-2 defeat at Buxton. The former Gateshead and Harrogate Town boss felt their were positives to take from the defeat but was just happy to be back. He said “I enjoyed it, back to the old routine and we played well today despite the result. There’s a good group of lads here and they should they are willing to listen today. The opportunity is there for these lads now, the shirts are there if they want them and they have to grow up. It’s a hard learning curve for them”.
Looking forward to the week ahead Wade knows that there is a tough test lying in wait as fifth placed Rushall Olympic make the trip to Croft Park. That gives the Spartans managerial team plenty of time to plan and would hard on the training pitch with their side as they look to get the season back on track and Wade feels that it is only hard work in training that will see things improve for his side. “Rushall are a good side and we have training sessions planned that will get the lads back in and some shape to the side ahead of a good test. Paddy is an excellent coach and he is a calming influence. We have the best wishes at heart for this club and want to do well for Blyth Spartans. My sides have always had a good shape and we lost it at times today and that cost us so we will be working on that and hopefully get the confidence levels back up”.
