Two goal Jennings wants winning end to campaign

Spartans forward Andy Jennings came off the bench to grab two goals and play his part in his side’s biggest away win of the season in the 4-1 win over Eastwood Town. The Badgers may already be relegated from the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League campaign but Spartans were more than good value for their win and the former Billingham Synthonia front man feels that they have to look to end the season well over the next week.

He said “We have now won two in a row and have two games coming up that we have to look to win. There are no easy games in this league but by the same token every game is winnable. We have to start putting a run together to end the season well and I have to say the lads are more together now than at any point since I’ve been here.”

Without a Spartans goal since another 4-1 win over Ashton United at Croft Park in Feburary Jennings felt it was only a matter of time before he hit the back of the net. A poachers finish on the eighty fifth minute and an intelligent injury time strike meant that the front man put the seal on a win for his side and wants to get more goals before the campaign ends at Nantwich Town next Saturday.

Jennings revealed “I felt like the goals had been coming and I think I’ve put in performances that maybe deserved a goal but they never came. I’m really pleased to get two goals today and hopefully there will be more to come in the next week before the end of the season.”

Since taking over the Spartans hotseat Tom Wade has managed to win five of his eleven games in charge and has seen former Wales International John Cornforth join him in the dugout. Jennings was full of praise for the managerial duo and feels that they are bringing a more relaxed nature to Spartans dressing room, something that the frontman feels can only be a postive for everyone at Croft Park.

He said “It’s been a galvanising effect with Tom and John to be honest. Nothing on anyone else who was here but I think for whatever reason everything is just more relaxed now and more positive. Everyone is pushing behind these two and it’s had a really positive impact for us.”
