The FA Cup Second Round draw has handed Spartans a North-East derby. Tom Wade’s men will make the short trip to SkyBet League Two side Hartlepool United with a place in the Third Round and a potential tie against a Premier League club up for grabs.

The tie at Victoria Park will take place on the weekend of Saturday 8th December, although full confirmation of the date will come in the next couple of days.

The tie sees Spartans duo Nathan Buddle and Stephen Turnbull head back to the club where they started their careers and keeper Peter Jeffries was once a season ticket holder at Pools.

The two teams have been pulled out of the hat together three times with the last meeting coming in 19566 Pools knock Spartans out in the Second Round with a 1-0 win at Croft Park.

However Spartans do have one victory against their league opponents. That came in 1925 with a 2-1 victory in what was the third replay between the two sides during that tie.
