Robert Dale celebrated signing up for the new season last night, by finally being presented with his Top Scorer award for last season.
The winger scored 10 goals last season, with his first being his 100th goal for Blyth. However, due to the close-run race for Top Scorer, Dale was made to wait until after the Presentation Evening to receive his award.
After signing terms for 2013/14, he now looks sure to add more to his total of 109 – as he enters his 10th season playing at Croft Park.
When asked how he felt about the award, Dale joked: “I expected it. Someone had to get to double digits, I suppose, and it ended up being me.
“There was a lot of us within a couple, but I managed to get a couple in the last couple of games and – in the last two – no one else scored who was close.”
Dale was also in a jovial mood when asked if he was looking forward to the new season.
He said: “Yeah, I’m looking forward to more younger lads signing, so they can do my running for me.”
Manager Tom Wade was on hand to present the trophy to Dale, who will now be able to add it to his Most Assists award presented to him at the end of the season.
However, despite his tally of 10 goals and 21 assists, the 28-year-old believes he should have got more.
Dale said: “I think it’s good but, after the start I had, I think I should have scored more.”
