Statement from the Club | Speculation Regarding Manager Alun Armstrong

In a joint statement from the Chairman and the Manager of Blyth Spartans the Club can announce that speculation regarding Manager Alun Armstrong leaving the Club are without foundation. Alun confirmed “I have a contract of employment with the Club that includes the option for a further twelve months.”

“The management committee, finances, stability and most importantly Croft Park’s readiness for Full Conference football were all part of my reason for coming to Blyth in the first place.

”The team is performing excellently in the League and my ambition is to take the Club forward.”

Alun further commented that he was flattered that his performance since taking over at Blyth has been recognised but reiterated that his future is with Blyth Spartans.

Chairman Platten confirmed that he had been contacted by a local Club but advised them that Alun had an existing contract of employment. In football there are rules and regulations regarding players and managers contracts but with modern communication devices it is almost impossible to stop contact and speculation.

As Alun commented in a previous statement “The best way to help him move the Club forward was for the people of Blyth to turn up at Croft Park and support the team. Recent matches have been outstanding entertainment and Saturday’s win at Stockport cemented the Spartans in third place in the League and joint top goal scorers.”
