TEAM NEWS

The Spartans travel to Staffordshire on Tuesday evening to take on Tamworth looking to keep their confidence flowing after Saturday’s win over Brackley Town.

Blyth got back to winning ways on Saturday after a wretched run of form. They dismantled a Brackley Town side who are siting third in the table. Dan Maguire deftly flicked home in the 3rd minute and the lead was doubled on 6 minutes when the scorer crossed for Jarrett Rivers to tap home. The win was sealed before half time when Maguire grabbed his second tapping home after Dale Hopson had struck the post.

Tamworth lost 2-1 at Alfreton Town on Saturday. The Lambs took the lead after Akwasi Asante saw his effort blocked and Darryl Knights put the rebound in. The hosts equalised when Brendon Daniels fired home a sumptuous free kick. Westcarr won the points for the visitors when he converted an 87th minute penalty.

Blyth have twice played at the Lamb Ground but have yet to score, let alone win.
