TEAM NEWS

Spartans manager Alun Armstrong made his managerial debut against Spennymoor back in September and will go in search of victory at Brewery Field – as Blyth look to extend their phenomenal winning sequence. Our previous meeting ended in a 0-0 stalemate, with both sides creating enough chances to win the game.

Armstrong’s men made it 12 wins from their last 12 games in all competitions with a workman-like performance to see off Corby Town. Daniel Maguire grabbed a brace, while Sean Reid and Luke Armstrong also found the back of the net as well.

Spennymoor threw away a two-goal lead on Saturday, which saw them only draw 3-3 at Stafford Rangers. Town have several games in hand on the teams around them in the Evo-Stik Premier League and could make a real push for the promotion places.

Maguire now has 20 goals in the league this season – and 27 in all competitions – as he looks to chase down Luke Benbow at the head of the pack in the race to be leading scorer.
