TEAM NEWS
Blyth Spartans travel to the Victoria Pleasure Grounds to face Goole, in the first round of the Buildbase FA Trophy on Saturday.

On Saturday gone, Spartans should have been out of sight against Stourbridge by half-time – following a Nathan Buddle bullet header and another fine individual effort from Robert Dale putting Blyth 2-0 up.

However, an early Stourbridge strike stirred them into life and a last minute penalty save from Adam McHugh ensured Blyth won 2-1. Meanwhile, Goole went down 3-1 at Droylsden last weekend.

A five-match unbeaten run – with four victories and a draw – has propelled Blyth into second place behind Whitby Town in the Evo-Stik Premier League. However, this game is the start of a long spell travelling for Blyth – as the club faces up to four away trips within the next fortnight (depending on if a replay is needed for this fixture.)

Goole have not had the most auspicious of starts to the season, with two wins in their first 14 league games – as they occupy 21st place in the Evo-Stik Northern League Division One.

The only possible injury concern for Spartans is for Alex Nicholson who was replaced at halftime on Saturday.
