Blyth Spartans now focus on the Emirates FA Cup as we host Bury on Saturday afternoon in the Second Qualifying Round.
We defeated Campion AFC in the First Qualifying Round Replay tie after extra time to advance to this stage of the tournament in a 3-1 win where Harry Gardiner scored his first since he permanently signed and Joao Gomes grabbed a brace to help secure victory.
The Spartans grabbed their first league victory of the season on Tuesday night as Billy Gordon’s 62nd-minute strike helped the Spartans to a 1-0 win over Workington AFC.
This will also be David Stockdale’s first game in charge since being appointed permanent First Team Manager.

WHAT WE’RE SAYING
After their first league win of the season, David Stockdale said: “You can kind of hear it in the background, I said that they need to enjoy it.
“It’s been a long slug to get to this and there has been a lot of hard work and I know some people don’t appreciate it, but we’ve put a lot of hours into it to get them ready and with a few opposition reports we knew what we can and can’t do.
“So I said to them you’ve got to enjoy it and we’ve got a fun game on Saturday and we’re looking forward to it.”

OPPOSITION
Bury FC were once a club that was mainstays of the Football League in some capacity, however, in August 2019 after financial difficulties they were expelled from the league and in November 2020 were placed into administration.
In December 2019 a group of supporters resolved to form a Phoenix club which they named Bury AFC and started in the North West Counties Football League for the 2020/21 season and in May 2022 the Bury FC Supporters Society signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the future of the club which would merge Bury AFC and the former Bury FC together as a fan-owned club in the basis of one member one vote (50+1 ownership).
After the merger went through they were able to regain Gigg Lane, where Bury originally played, and returned to their ground for the 2023/24 season where they had 5000 in attendance on the opening day of the North West Counties Football League season.
However, in the FA Cup, Bury have already played three times, a 4-2 away at Congleton Town in the Extra Preliminary Round, a 2-1 win over Avro FC in the Preliminary Round and most recently they defeated Garforth Town AFC 2-0 in the First Qualifying Round.
LAST TIME WE MET
The last recorded meeting of the sides was in November 1995 when Blyth Spartans defeated Bury 2-0 at Gigg Lane in the FA Cup First Round as Richard Bond and Tommy Ditchburn scored for David McGreery and Tony Lowrey’s side.
