Link With The Past

Amongst guests at the Croft Park Centenary Game tonight will be two gentlemen who played for the Spartans pre 2nd World War, Bill Fenwick and Jack Earnshaw. Another link with the past will also be recognised, as the history of this fixture comes full circle, when 92 years old Frank Makin, youngest son of former Spartans striker Peter Mackin, attends the game as a guest of the club. Peter played in the 1909 match between Blyth and Newcastle 100 years ago scoring one of the Spartan’s goals in the 4-2 defeat.
