FA Cup | Blyth face Whitley Bay in Second Round Qualifying

Blyth Spartans AFC have been drawn away to Northern League Division One side Whitley Bay in the FA Cup Second Round Qualifying.

The tie will take place next Saturday (October 3) in what will be a local derby at Hillheads with the two clubs less than 7 miles apart.

Winning clubs at this stage of the competition collect £3375 from the prize fund with losing clubs also collecting £1125.

The tie will present Spartans with their first competitive fixture since February – and their first of the 2020/21 campaign.

Michael Nelson, manager of Blyth said: “It’s a good draw as far as the location goes and it’s great for the area to have a bit of a local derby.

“Hopefully, that can generate a bit of interest from further afield to help out both clubs financially.”

More details to follow in due course.
